Last updated: June 3, 2026
1. Agreement
By creating an account or using Spontae (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Spontae is operated by Spontae (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
2. Educational use only
Spontae is an educational study tool designed to help law students learn and practice legal skills. By using the Service, you agree to:
- Use the Service only for personal study and educational purposes.
- Not submit AI-generated content as your own work in any academic submission, law review article, exam answer, or assignment.
- Comply with your law school's academic integrity policies, honor code, and any policies regarding AI tools.
- Verify all legal citations, case names, statutory references, and rules against authoritative sources (Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg, official reporters) before relying on them.
3. Not legal advice
Spontae is an educational study tool. Nothing on the Service constitutes legal advice, legal representation, or an attorney-client relationship. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. Do not rely on content generated by this Service for any legal matter. If you need legal advice, consult a licensed attorney.
4. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You may not share your account with others. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Payments and subscriptions
Paid subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual basis depending on the plan you select. Payments are processed by Stripe. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge your payment method for the applicable subscription fee.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from the billing settings in your account.
- Annual subscriptions are refundable within 30 days of the initial purchase.
- Monthly subscriptions are not refundable for partial months.
- We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days' notice to active subscribers.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the study content you create (case briefs, outlines, flashcards, notes). By submitting content to the Service, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and transmit it as necessary to provide the Service, including sending it to third-party AI APIs for processing. We do not claim ownership of your study materials.
7. Prohibited uses
You may not use the Service to:
- Attempt to extract, scrape, or reproduce the Service's content at scale.
- Circumvent rate limits, access controls, or subscription restrictions.
- Share access credentials with others.
- Use automated bots or scripts to access the Service.
- Submit content that violates applicable law or third-party rights.
8. Intellectual property
The Spontae platform, design, software, and educational content (guides, lesson structures, scoring rubrics) are our proprietary property and protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our platform content without written permission.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SPONTAE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY RELIANCE ON AI-GENERATED LEGAL CONTENT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
